Although winter is still well and truly with us, with damp, dark days, perfect for staying in and knitting, we are turning our thoughts to the new summer yarns. We have had a little shuffle round in the shop so we can dedicate one bay of shelving to spring and summer knits. New stock is arriving almost daily and as soon as we can, we will add them to the website.
This month's offer is on Sirdar Denim Ultra. This superchunky yarn is surprisingly light and is ideal for spring jackets. If you haven't used it before, now is a good chance to try. We stock some of the patterns so have a look at Sirdar's website for inspiration and other information. www.sirdar.co.uk
We have just received baby shades in Rico Design Pompons as well as many of the prints which are now back in stock. Also selling well is Adriafil Knitcol and Brigantia Aran. There must be a baby boom this summer as we are selling lots of baby yarns, especially Sirdar Snuggly in all shades and styles. Aran yarns are also popular at the moment. We are doing our best to keep the website correct but it sometimes the turnover is just too fast!
Our contribution to the Over and Above the Sea project has been sent off and we have received a lovely letter back from the organiser, Alison. We are also continuing to knit hats and cardigans for Scarborough Hospital's SCBU. The knitting groups have made some knitted decorations and we are selling them to support Knit for Peace which supports knitting groups in Rwanda, Pakistan and other war-affected communities. Look out for a new charity project starting soon...
The knit and natter on Tuesday afternoons continues to be popular and we are hoping to expand it into Friday mornings as an add-on to the knitting clinic. Our small but enthusiastic group of crocheters pop in sometimes on Thursday afternoons. The evening class for beginners is pretty full but we could always squeeze a couple more in.
Happy knitting
